Tourist bus permits
Tour bus permits are divided into five categories: O, P, H, G, A, as described below. For a more detailed description, you can download the regulations for TOURIST BUSES of the Municipality of Siena.
Ordinary permit for the historic center ā O
Permit "O" ā (Historic center and parking) This permit is intended for those who visit the historic centre, allowing the loading and unloading of passengers in the assigned stop area, at the time indicated in the permit. It is possible to purchase the permit at the checkpoint and online (at a discounted rate). It must be printed and displayed on the dashboard before entering the limited traffic zone for buses.
Historical center permit ā discount for groups in hotels ā P, H
Two discounts are available for groups staying in accommodation facilities in the city of Siena: one for parking at the "Il Fagiolone" bus park (permit "P") and one for loading and unloading passengers (permit "H"). The "P" and "H" permits must be requested at least one day before the group's arrival in Siena and this can be done exclusively by the accommodation facility. They can be purchased online (at a discounted rate) or at the bus Check-Point (at full rate). They must be printed and displayed on the dashboard before entering the Bus Restricted Traffic Zone.
Permit "P" ā (Historic center and parking) This permit is designed for groups staying in Siena accommodation facilities. With this permit, the driver can load and unload tourists in the historic center, as well as park at the "Il Fagiolone" bus park. Other stops for loading and unloading passengers are permitted during the days of stay in Siena. The stop area closest to the accommodation facility is specified at the time of booking.
Permit "H" ā (Historic Centre) This permit is designed for groups staying in accommodation facilities in Siena. With this permit, the driver can load and unload passengers and their luggage, but cannot park at the "Il Fagiolone" bus park. The bus can pass through the Siena Bus Limited Traffic Zone only on the day of arrival and departure, at the time specified in the permit. It is not permitted to pass through the Limited Traffic Zone for buses to take the group into the historic center of Siena or for excursions outside Siena, as a "P" permit is required for this purpose. To park in the parking areas of the accommodation facilities, only on the day of arrival and departure, you need the "H" permit. Other stops are not permitted. When requesting an "H" permit, the software shows the stop area closest to the hotel or hotel parking area, if available.
General Permit ā āGā
Permit "G" The general permit is for groups that need to reach a specific destination in peripheral areas (accommodation facilities, restaurants, hospital...) and does not allow parking at the "Il Fagiolone" bus park nor the loading or unloading of passengers in the city centre. It can be purchased at the check-point (full fare) or online (at a discounted rate) and must be printed and displayed on the dashboard before entering the Limited Traffic Zone for Buses.
Post Access Permission ā āAā
Permit "A" Is for those who purchase the permit after entering the Limited Traffic Zone for Buses, regardless of the destination or service requested.
Siena has a rest area 'Il Fagiolone' in Strada di Pescaia where tourist buses can park after loading and unloading passengers and luggage.
Access to the ZTL for tourist buses in Siena is subject to a fee and requires advance online booking, within the day before arrival.
