ZTL and Tourist Bus Check Point: Complete Guide to Fees, Zones and Authorization Procedures
The Municipality of Montecatini Terme has established a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) covering the entire town centre. Access for non-scheduled buses is subject to the payment of a fee set by the Municipal Council and the obtaining of prior authorisation. The management of ZTL authorisations and bus parking is entrusted to Montecatini Parcheggi & Servizi S.p.A., a company owned by the Municipality of Montecatini Terme.
The system is active from 1 January to 31 December each year. The permit must be printed in A4 format and displayed clearly on the windscreen before entering the ZTL.
For buses without authorisation, a Check-Point in Piazza Italia is available, with an automated payment machine operating 24/7 for the immediate issue of permits.

Tourist Bus Parking Areas
After completing loading/unloading operations, buses not accommodated in an authorised private car park must exit the ZTL and may use the municipal car parks:
- P1 – Municipal Stadium (Piazzale Leopoldo): open every day except Wednesday (from 16:00 to 16:00 the following day) — unattended
- P2 – Ippodromo Sesana (Via Leonardo da Vinci): open Wednesdays only (from 16:00 to 16:00 the following day) — unattended
⚠️ Time restriction: from 1 September to 15 June, between 07:50 and 08:20, it is prohibited to exit the municipal car parks and transit through the ZTL.
⚠️ Engine-off rule: engines must be switched off during loading/unloading operations and at level crossings with lowered barriers.

- Log in to the official platform with your credentials
- Fill in the application form
- Pay via PayPal (credit/debit/bank cards)

Check-Point in Piazza Italia – Automated machine 24/7: For buses arriving without authorisation. Accepts credit/debit cards and cash (with change). Fees are identical to the online rates.
⚠️ Surcharges for missing authorisation:
- +50% of the fee if paid by 24:00 on the day of the offence
- +100% of the fee if paid within the following 3 days
- After 3 days: enforcement recovery procedure activated
